Clean Water Changes the Rhythm of a Family’s Life

By Dawn Lewis

Ms. Heuy is 39 years old and raising three children—a son and two daughters—in Pha Kio Village in Khammouane Province, Laos.

Before her family received a TerraClear water filter, stomach illness was a regular part of their lives. Ms. Heuy remembers the family suffering from stomach aches frequently. Illness meant days of discomfort, illness, and worry for the children. It also means missed days of work for Ms. Heuy and for her children, it could mean missing school.

For a single mother raising three children, those lost days matter. Being sick doesn’t just affect health—it costs time, income, and opportunities for children to learn.

Then the family received a ceramic water filter and gained access to clean drinking water at home.

Today, Ms. Heuy says her family’s health has improved significantly. Her children can attend school without the stomach ailments they experienced before, and she no longer has to worry about illness disrupting their lives in the same way.

For Ms. Heuy, clean water has also meant saving both time and money as she raises her children.

She wanted to express her sincere gratitude to those who made their filter possible. Because someone chose to help a family they may never meet, Ms. Heuy and her children now have clean drinking water in their own home—and one less daily worry.

This is what one water filter can do.

And there are many more families like Ms. Heuy’s waiting for that same opportunity.

Looking Ahead to ExtraGive

On November 20, TerraClear will participate in ExtraGive with a big goal: 100 donors, $15,000, and clean water for 200 families in Laos.

We’ll share more in the coming weeks. For now, we hope you’ll mark November 20 on your calendar. Together, we can help 200 more families – at only $75 per family – experience what clean water has meant for Ms. Heuy and her children.
